How it Works

Converting Your Old Analog Videos to Digital Videos

flow chart1 How it Works

1. Gather Your Old Analog Tapes

Tapes: remember those plastic objects that contain some your precious family memories? Perhaps they’re in a box in your attic or your basement. Maybe they were shot on a camcorder you no longer use. The tapes can be Hi-8, MiniDV or VHS-C or standard VHS. No matter the format, the fact is, the longer they sit around and collect dust, the more the signal on the magnetic tape degrades. Don’t let your memories fade away! Have a bunch of tapes but don’t know what’s on them? No problem. I will digitize and label your videos and only charge you for the videos you want to keep.

2. I Personally Retrieve your Analog Video Tapes

Unlike other services where you have to box your tapes up and ship them to another state, I personally come to your home or place of business in or near Maryland to collect your valuable family memories. No driving or trips to the post office. You will meet the person digitizing your videotapes.

3. I Digitize and Preserve Your Family Memories

Once I have your tapes, I digitize them using high end Apple video capture software. I personally inspect each tape I digitize to assure quality as I convert your home movies to digital video, the most flexible format available. Videos can be digitized in two ways: the first, to DVD, the second as MP4 media files for your computer. If you have many tapes, I recommend saving your videos as MP4 files onto an external hard drive. External hard drives are fairly inexpensive, and depending on their size, can hold up to one-thousand hours of video.

4. Enjoy your Memories – Digitally!

Once your memories are digital, the possibilities for enjoying and sharing them are endless. For instance, you can copy the files on as many disks or other computers as you like. You can also upload your videos onto Facebook or Youtube. I provide assistance to my customers in these areas absolutely free of charge.

I can transfer the following formats:

  • Convert VHS / SVHS to DVD
  • Convert Hi8 or Digital8 Tapes to DVD
  • Convert VHSC or S-VHSC to DVD
  • Convert Mini-DV to DVD
  • Convert DVDs to digital files or Youtube Flash & More!
